How early should I schedule a long-distance move?
Scheduling early means you’ll have a better chance at landing a booking time that suits your needs. Peak moving months (June, July, and August) fill up quickly and are very popular times to move. If you need to move during these peak months, book well in advance to ensure your spot.
What if I need to reschedule my move?
Things happen! If you need to reschedule your move, it’s important to get in touch with your TLC movers as soon as possible. We’ll do our best to accommodate changing schedules and help you find a way to get your long-distance move done in a timeframe that works for you.
Will my belongings be safe during a long-distance move?
Absolutely. At TLC Moving & Storage, we pride ourselves on the care we take and the respect we afford your belongings. We handle your belongings as if they were our own, and we take extra care to ensure everything is packed and transported safely. We use packing blankets and wraps to keep things snug and protected from point A to point B.
Do you offer full-service moving?
We do. We can provide boxes, tape, padding, and other moving supplies, as well as expert advice and insight on loading your possessions up. We’ll gladly load every box carefully into our moving trucks and ship it to your new home. When we arrive, we’ll unload every box into the rooms they belong, and we’ll gladly arrange and assemble furniture as needed.
What if I’m not satisfied with my moving experience?
Tell us—we want to hear from you. Our job isn’t done until you’re totally satisfied, and only when you’ve told us you’re happy with the work we’ve done do we ask for payment. We take customer service and courtesy very seriously; after all, our motto is, “Let someone who cares handle your belongings.”
How long will it take for my belongings to make it to my new home?
It really depends on where you’re moving from and where you’re moving to. If you’re moving from the west coast to Ottawa, for example, it’s safe to expect approximately one week of transit time. As part of our estimate process, we’ll include a rough timeframe for how long the trip will actually take, but most long-distance moves take between 8 and 14 business days.
Are there items that I cannot move?
Yes. We will not move combustible items or fuels. We also cannot guarantee the safety of any plants you might want to move, and we will not move pets in our moving trucks. Moving frozen foods presents certain challenges, but is not impossible. For a detailed list of items we will not move, please contact us today.
I’m worried about scuffing or damaging floors and surfaces—what can I do?
Leave it to us! Our professional movers will set up pads and runners to carefully move each item out of your old home and into your new one. We treat every belonging with care and respect, and we pride ourselves on exceptional customer service. That includes ensuring your property is protected, and making sure we leave things exactly as we found them.
