Kanata was planned with a mix of densities. Around the Kanata Town Centre there are townhomes and stacked townhomes, and farther west the streets are mostly single-family houses. Each one is a different job, so say which you live in when you ask for a quote.
In a stacked townhome the upper unit is reached by stairs, not an elevator, so every heavy piece is carried up or down by hand. We plan for that before the day rather than finding out at the door.
Kanata's oldest homes are in Beaverbrook, the first neighbourhood Bill Teron built in the 1960s as a planned garden-city community. Newer areas such as Emerald Meadows have newer builds with larger driveways and garages.
Why we plan Kanata moves around the Queensway
Kanata is the farthest of our four suburban areas from the base. From Swansea Crescent the trucks take Walkley Road to Highway 417 and drive about 30 km west on the Queensway, so a Kanata schedule is built around that highway.
The Canadian Tire Centre, home arena of the Ottawa Senators, sits in Kanata's Terry Fox Business Park. A move near it on a game or event day is timed around the crowd.
Inside Kanata we work along Terry Fox Drive, March Road, Eagleson Road and Hazeldean Road, and in neighbourhoods such as Katimavik-Hazeldean, Glen Cairn and Bridlewood.

2. Packing, if you want it

3. Moving day
Furniture is wrapped, anything that will not fit the stairs is taken apart, and delicate pieces ride where they are protected.
4. Unloading
Boxes go to the rooms written on them and the furniture is reassembled. If the new place is not ready, storage holds everything until it is.

Questions about moving with TLC
How much are movers in Kanata?

When you hire movers, do they pack your stuff?
Only if you ask. TLC offers full packing, where we bring the boxes and tape and pack the whole home, or fragile-only packing for glass, artwork, mirrors and electronics. You can pack everything else yourself.
